CBC News Ottawa: Jim Wilson, CanLyme president, wants patients as equal partners on Lyme Borreliosis policy.

As a result of Elizabeth May’s private member’s Bill 442 that passed unanimously through both the Canadian federal House and Senate, a national conference is underway in Ottawa with expert presenters from around the world. Â Dogma of the past years, without GRADE level evidence is being drawn into question by global expert presentations.
In Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, CBC News interviews Jim Wilson, president of the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation. An error he made in the interview was that his daughter contracted Lyme borreliosis in 2001, not 1991.

Hi I have a disease called Transverse Myelitis but at first they tested me for Lyme disease. Are they similar? Tks Fred
Transverse myelitis is a neurological disorder caused by inflammation across both sides of one level, or segment, of the spinal cord. This damage causes nervous system scars that interrupt communications between the nerves in the spinal cord and the rest of the body. It is not really a disease, but TM can be the result of disease. I am also a TM patient. In my case it was called ideopathic (i.e. idiot doctor, pathetic patient) mostly because I was not tested for anything at the time. My TM is a result of having Lyme disease, despite finally being tested and being negative with Canadian testing.
In Canada (and with commercial labs in the U.S.) Lyme testing is notoriously unreliable, so a negative test does not mean that you could not have Lyme. I was tested in the U.S. by IGeneX and diagnosed clinically by a Lyme literate medical doctor in the U.S.
