It was a full house at a South Surrey Lyme disease forum last week.

The April 24 event at Semiahmoo House Society was hosted by local Discount Tire owner Louise Roderick – who had spoken to Peace Arch News last summer about her battle with the disease – and featured presentations from Dr. Ernie Murakami, Lyme activist Gwen Barlee and local Lyme sufferer Karen Marchand.

Marchand, who also spoke to PAN about her Lyme disease, said the event drew approximately 170 people from all walks of life.

“Many of those who were ill in the audience were finally heard and relieved to find support, resources and people who understood,” she said in an email.
