Ticks are killed in clothes dryer in only 5 minutes new research suggests

Braintree HS graduate continues groundbreaking ticks research

Until now, little research has been conducted about how to cleanse dangerous ticks from clothing by washing or drying it.

The federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) office in Fort Collins, Colorado has received funding to continue the groundbreaking research about ticks started by a former Braintree High School student, Jacqueline Flynn, in 2013.

“I can’t even think of words to describe this because I’m so young,” she said.

Flynn, 18, who recently graduated from BHS and is about to begin her freshman year at the Honors College at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, where she’s majoring in biochemistry with a pre-med track, is co-author of a study that will be presented in October at the annual meeting of the Family Medicine Education Consortium in Danvers.
