Battle with Lyme disease changes life for Winnipeg girl

CBC News Posted: May 14, 2015 4:41 PM CT

Brooke LePage used to be a competitive swimmer in Winnipeg, but after contracting Lyme disease last year, the 12-year-old girl can barely muster the energy to get out of bed.

“I’m feeling extremely tired and I usually stay in bed all day,” said LePage. “I’ll only get up to go to the bathroom.”

LePage has been living with regular headaches, fevers, exhaustion and dizziness since December 2014.

  1. Has she found a local (WPG) Doc who is up to date on how this disease works and how to fight it? I’m still trying to deal with it and seems the Manitoba docs are so far behind and they send me to every specialist other than the one that will help me with Lyme. I am waiting for the Western Blot test to confirm and my current Doc won’t do anything unless he has the test complete (costs over $400 US) I have every single side effect of Lyme. I need a doc that can help. I’m in pain and can hardly walk. Losing sight in one eye. Along with all the other effects. Please send me a reff to a doc that knows what is going on.

    Thanks.

    Brent.
