Dr. Monica Embers, Director of Vector-Borne Disease Research at Tulane University, discusses the difference between antibiotic tolerance and resistance in relation to the Lyme bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, and the role tolerance plays in persistence of infection. She also draws on her latest research in animal models to address the differences in treatment outcomes between single antibiotic therapy and combination therapy.
