CanLyme screening of The Quiet Epidemic documentary May 19-27

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month, and CanLyme is hosting a private screening of the critically acclaimed documentary, The Quiet Epidemic.

For the past two decades, CanLyme has been listening to the voices of people who have encountered ongoing roadblocks while trying to access adequate healthcare for Lyme disease. CanLyme has responded by engaging with policy makers in an effort to improve the lives of people living with this illness.

The Quiet Epidemic

The Quiet Epidemic follows a young girl from Brooklyn and a Duke University scientist, both diagnosed with a disease said to not exist: Chronic Lyme disease. Their search for answers lands them in the middle of a vicious medical debate. What begins as a patient story evolves into an investigation into the history of Lyme disease, dating back to its discovery in 1975. A paper trail of suppressed scientific research and buried documents reveal why tick-borne diseases have been allowed to quietly spread around the globe.

Running time is 1 hr 42 mins.
