CanLyme’s research fundraising
CanLyme is committed to raising funds for research into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of Lyme disease. see our Venture Grants Policy
Today, more than 2 million Canadians suffer from illnesses of unknown origin. Research suggests that many of these individuals could be Lyme victims, and would benefit from treatment.
Lyme disease is commonly misdiagnosed as other illnesses. Improper diagnosis ruins lives and costs our medical system billions of dollars each year. Conducting human tissue and fluid studies will help to identify the rate of Lyme infection nationwide. The United States government recently upgraded the numbers of cases in the US each year from 30,000 to 300,000 yet the Canadian government has not commented. It still maintains we have only 650 cases annually which is unbelievable. They have suggested publicly that the number could be 3 fold higher so, closer to 2000 per year. CanLyme and other support networks receive thousands of calls/contacts per year.
The Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation aims to raise $5,000,000.00 to help fund human tissue studies using some of today’s most sophisticated genomic technology. Your generous donations are needed!
All donations will go into our general research fund unless specifically designated for another purpose or specific research (only if we can accommodate that other purpose or specific research, call us if clarification is required. 250-768-0978)
