Jim Wilson: Sincere and caring man

He will be sadly missed.

Stunning sunset over a mountain landscape.

It is with fond memories that we celebrate Jim, our dear friend and courageous leader!

He was the man who kindly met with us when we suspected our very sick son, Ryan, may have Lyme disease. Jim was a person who was very knowledgeable about the disease and what we needed to do to either make a diagnosis or rule it out. He was most of all someone who became our friend. Our son was only 27 years old, married and a father when he was given the diagnosis of Lyme.  He was so ill he could not work, parent or be the husband and dad he wanted to be. Jim so kindly took us under his wing and accepted numerous cries for help over the next two and a half years from us. Jim was amazing at helping guide us through the identification process and notifying us of the challenges that we were about to face.

Jim was a professional with a detailed knowledge of all things related to this illusive disease. He was so advanced on Lyme and was so far ahead of the medical world. We got to know Jim well and we ended up joining the CanLyme Board. We worked closely with Jim for over three years on the board and watched him work with determination and a demand for justice for all the patients he represented. He led in such a calm, professional and focused way and easily gained our trust and respect. It is not often you will find a man as selfless as Jim.

Every single minute we experienced working with Jim, we found him to be such a sincere caring man with a huge heart dedicated to fixing all the challenges that came his way. Canada was not on board with helping those who were seriously sick, but Jim never let that slow his progress down.  He helped thousands of people all over Canada and it was truly our pleasure to have known Jim.

He will be sadly missed and the legacy he left with us and with others will be one that will never be forgotten.  Jim was simply a wonderful, kind and amazing man!
