Winnipegger warns of Lyme disease
Jan Cmela can relate to Avril Lavigne’s health issues and she’s hoping the Canadian pop singer’s voice will raise awareness in the battle against Lyme disease.
Lavigne revealed in a recent People Magazine interview she thought she was dying after a suspected tick bite in the spring of 2014.
“I had no idea a bug bite could do this,” Lavigne, 30, told the magazine. “I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk and I couldn’t move … It felt like having all your life sucked out of you.”
The illness left Lavigne bedridden for five months. She continues to recuperate from the bacterial infection at home in Ontario.
