I was infected by a deer tick(s) in Ottawa while on a weekend visit with my daughter and grandson. I went to the doctor who prescribed antibiotics for 10 days and a cream for the bites (12 in total). This was a month ago and I am still feeling off, sweats, dizzy, a little out of it, joint pains, sore muscles, aching bones, weight gain and fatigue. What should my next course of action be? My doctor had never dealt with a case of deer tick infection up until now and so I’m thinking she may not know how to treat me. I understand that it could lead into lyme disease. Is there a doctor or clinic which I could attend in the Toronto area?

    Thank you for your help.

Could you reccomend a doctor in the Fraser valley BC? My daughter daughter had a tick for about three days and has symptoms that are concerning us.
Our family doctor doesn’t have much experience.

      Hi Susan,

I would say get to a Lyme literate doctor immediately. I imagine Jim Wilson will send you contact information for doctors (in Canada, likely a Naturopath) who are well-versed in Lyme treatment. I also recommend that you Google, order, and watch the film “Under our Skin”. It will explain to you why your MD has been dangerously cavalier about what is a potentially a life-threatening–and certainly life changing–tick borne illness. Best regards, Carole in British Columbia (Lyme patient–sick for 15 years and may now never get well).

Hello Carole, I would be really grateful if you could send me a Naturopath who is well-versed in Lyme treatment.
        Thanks so much,

I have tested negative for Lyme 2x here in Canada although myself and my doctor know that’s what it is. The doctor has been contacting public health to see if we can get the approval for western blot testing, I was referred to sunnybrook to the infectious disease team who won’t take me on as their case load is too busy and now referrred to mount Sinai and waiting word. Does anyone know any doctor in Toronto who may help me?
